One of the great things about providing photo booths for wedding is that we see some magnificent venues. We also get to see some of the things that go on behind the scenes too! Here is our top pick of 2014 so far.
Ye Olde Bell Hotel Barnby Moor, Nottinghamshire (http://www.yeoldebell-hotel.co.uk/)
From the outside, this looks like a quaint pub set in a picturesque village. Step through the front door however and you are transported into vintage, yet elegant surroundings with a homely and relaxed feel. Ye Olde Bell dates back to the 17th century and has retained much of the original character. You can almost see the horsemen and travelling gentry making themselves at home here after a long day on the road.
On our arrival to provide the photo booth we found out the room we were due to set up in wasn’t quite ready. However, the events manager quickly came to see us and went out of his way to clear some space for us. This is always a good sign in our book. As external suppliers, we don’t always get a great welcome from some venues and our worry is that they treat their customers in a similar way.
No problems at Ye Olde Bell however. All the staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. The Bradgate Suite that the guests were enjoying their meal in was full of splendour. Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling in a room surrounded with original oak panelling.
What really sells this hotel for us is the contrast between the traditional and the modern. The large landscaped gardens are served by an outside facing bar that makes you feel like you’re more in an uber trendy city bar than a country hotel. The guests were relaxed outside and seemed almost reluctant to come back inside for the disco!
When we renew our vows, this is sure to be the venue we’ll choose. A great place on every level.
